Mpumalanga Residents Urged to Conserve Water as Dam Levels Continue to Decline

September 30, 2024Mpumalanga Premier, Mr Mandla Ndlovu, together with the MEC for Health, Ms Sasekani Manzini, officially inaugurated the Diphalane Community Health Centre in Pankop, Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality, today.
The construction of the clinic provided temporary employment opportunities for the local community, with 29 members being appointed through a local sub-contractor. Of these, 12 were women and 17 were men, with 13 individuals under the age of 32.
Premier Ndlovu, who celebrated his birthday today, expressed his satisfaction that the state-of-the-art facility, which is fully equipped and furnished, will serve several villages in and around Pankop, including Matseke, Mocha, Moema, Makgoobane, Matebeleng, Greenside, Itsoseng, New Trust, Zone 5, Squareng, Savanna, Mantlole, Shake, Rankaila, and Diphalane.
The Premier urged community members to take responsibility and collaborate with healthcare practitioners to combat the spread of HIV and AIDS. He also reaffirmed the Mpumalanga Provincial Government’s commitment to reducing the high rate of HIV/AIDS infections in the region.
“We will redouble our efforts in combating the spread of HIV/AIDS and ensure that we reverse the current infection trends so that we can meet our targets by 2030,” he said.
Premier Ndlovu emphasised the importance of healthcare facilities operating efficiently, stating, “We expect our healthcare facilities to open on time and not close until the last patient has been served.”
The inauguration was attended by officials from the Nkangala District Municipality and Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality, who joined the Premier and MEC in celebrating this significant milestone for the community.
