Four people lost their lives in a head-on collision between a light delivery vehicle (LDV) and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on the R40 near Hazyview on Monday morning. Three of the victims were in the SUV, and the fourth was the driver of the LDV. All victims died at the scene. The deceased included two adult males and two adult females.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but it is suspected that dangerous overtaking may have been involved. Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security, and Liaison, Mr. Jackie Macie, has urged motorists to be cautious and obey traffic laws. “Motorists are once again called upon to respect the rules of the road so that crashes on our roads are minimized. We all have a role in being safe on the road,” said Macie.
