Woman crafts organic hair products to empower natural beauty

When Amanda Mathebula Ngwenya couldn’t find healthy haircare options for her natural locks,
she decided to make her own. Driven by a passion for empowering black women to embrace
their beauty, Mathebula launched a line of organic, non-toxic hair products handcrafted to
nourish, restore, and revive.

Mathebula’s journey to entrepreneurship began while working as a chef. She invested months
researching how to formulate organic solutions for common hair struggles faced by black
women.

“I listened to other women share their difficulties managing natural hair which I related to,” she
explained. “I wanted to create products that solved problems like dry scalp, tangles, and receding
hairlines.”

Armed with her culinary expertise, Mathebula carefully selected natural ingredients like shea
butter, coconut oil, aloe vera and avocado to craft products that “restore confidence in every
black girl and woman.”

Getting the business off the ground wasn’t without challenges. “My biggest mistake was not fully
believing in myself and my products at first,” she revealed. However positive customer
testimonials proved her organic creations actually work.

“Seeing hairlines restored, dry scalps hydrated, and hair easily combed is the best
accomplishment,” said Mathebula.

She handles any product issues, like leakage from faulty packaging, with the same care and
urgency. “I take all client feedback seriously to constantly improve.”

Now, Mathebula is focused on expanding distribution so more women can experience the
transformative power of her products. But her mission remains the same.

“I’m invested in helping black women embrace their natural beauty in a healthy, non-toxic way,”
Mathebula said. “When we properly care for our hair, we restore confidence in who we are.”
