January 11, 2024A shocking kidnapping occurred in Witbank after a local businessman was forcibly abducted from his place of work on Wednesday morning.
Mahesh Sing, owner of a Corridor Hill business, received a suspicious call on Tuesday about an electrical issue on his property. The next day, he was confronted by at least three armed men who grabbed Sing and drove off in a grey Ford Kuga.
It appears the initial call was a ruse used to lure Sing to his business. The kidnappers’ vehicle had cloned plates, and they wore balaclavas during the brazen daylight attack around 8:20 am.
Authorities say the panicked victim was seen driven towards Kriel against his will. His cell phone was discarded along the way and recovered by police, who are urgently working to locate Sing.
Anyone with information related to the kidnappers or Sing’s whereabouts should immediately contact Detective Sergeant Master Patel at 072 025 1395. Tips can also be shared anonymously via Crime Stop or MYSAPSAPP.
Provincial Police Commissioner Lt. Gen. Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has assembled an investigative team to find and return Sing safely to his distraught family.
