A disturbing discovery was made in Bushbuckridge on Wednesday when a decomposed male body was spotted in the Injaka Dam.
The body was found by community members who were fishing in the dam. They alerted the police to the grim scene.
The unidentified man appeared middle-aged, wearing a blue shirt, wedding ring, and torn t-shirt tying his hands and body with rope. Police estimate he was around 40 years old.
With the state of decomposition, authorities have not yet been able to identify the man or determine an exact cause of death.
Lt. Col. Urence Sibuyi of the Bushbuckridge Police is appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the man and locate his family.
Police are treating this as a suspicious death until more facts come to light. The community is asked to think back to anything unusual they may have witnessed around Injaka Dam recently.
