This honour cements Rand Water’s position as a leading force in the global water sector.
The GWIO’s coveted Public Agency of the Year award nomination is a testament to Rand Water’s unwavering commitment to excellence across multiple domains, including water quality, financial resilience, and innovative infrastructure development. This acknowledgement underscores the utility’s dedication to enhancing water security for millions of South Africans.
Rand Water’s exceptional water quality standards have been lauded by the GWIO, with the utility achieving a remarkable 95% or higher compliance rate with stringent chemical and microbiological standards. This recognition aligns with the 2023 South African Blue Drop report, which bestowed Rand Water with the prestigious Blue Drop certification, validating its adherence to both national and international drinking water quality norms.
Moreover, the GWIO commended Rand Water for its groundbreaking infrastructure projects, including the commissioning of two major initiatives in 2023, further solidifying its position as a pioneer in the water sector’s innovation landscape.
Rand Water’s financial performance during the previous fiscal year was also cited as a significant contributing factor to its nomination, reflecting the utility’s strong financial management and sustainable operations.
