Police are currently investigating two separate murder cases following the discovery of a woman’s burnt body near Bushbuckridge and the fatal shooting of a man near Thulamahashe. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with either case.
The first incident involves the discovery of a woman’s burnt body in the bushes at Mphenyatšatši, near Bushbuckridge, on Sunday, June 9, 2024. According to initial reports, neighbors of the woman, who lived alone, alerted her family after noticing her absence for two days. Despite several attempts to locate her, she could not be found, leading the family to report her missing to the Bushbuckridge SAPS on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Tragically, her body was discovered the following day, prompting the opening of a murder case. The motive for the killing remains unknown.
In the second incident, police at Mhala are investigating the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found with gunshot wounds in Chochocho (Dingledale Trust), near Thulamahashe, on Monday, June 10, 2024. The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, and no arrests have been made.
Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or provide information via the MYSAPSAPP. All tips will be treated confidentially, and callers may remain anonymous.
Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, has condemned both incidents and assured the public that the police are working diligently to arrest the perpetrators.
