Police Investigate Two Murders in Bushbuckridge and Thulamahashe
June 11, 2024Another of the late Chief Clyde Mnisi’s siblings has been killed.
Police in Hazyview are investigating a murder and attempted murder case following a shooting incident on Thursday, June 6, 2024, around 17:55. A 35-year-old woman, Sharon Mnisi, was fatally shot, and a man sustained injuries during the attack.
The tragic incident has left the communities of Bushbuckridge and Hazyview in shock. Sharon Mnisi was the sister of the late Chief Clyde Mnisi of the Mnisi Tribal Authority, who was murdered last year. Her death follows a series of violent incidents involving the Mnisi family. A week after Chief Mnisi’s burial, his wife was shot and killed in her home. Earlier this year, two of Sharon Mnisi’s younger brothers were killed in a double homicide at Casa Banana Tavern in Cork, Mkhuhlu.
According to reports, police responded to a shooting at a food restaurant in Hazyview. Two armed men allegedly exited a silver-grey Toyota Etios with Gauteng registration plates and opened fire. Sharon Mnisi, who was driving, was killed at the scene, while the male passenger was injured. Empty cartridges from a rifle and a pistol were found at the scene.
The motive for the shooting is currently unknown and is part of the ongoing investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle used by the suspects might have been stolen or hijacked in Bushbuckridge on May 21, 2024.
Police urge anyone with information to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or submit tips via the MYSAPSAPP. All information will be treated confidentially, and callers may remain anonymous.
