December 7, 2023Police have arrested a suspected big dagga dealer trying to transport illegal marijuana worth lots of money. This happened thanks to help from worried people in the community.
On Tuesday, officers received a call about a suspicious white Toyota Camry. The caller saw the car driving on highways, coming from nearby Eswatini carrying many bags of dagga to sell.
Police found the car and tried stopping it. But the driver sped off, starting a scary police chase. Eventually, he abandoned the speeding car and tried to run away on foot. The policemen quickly caught him.
They searched inside the parked Toyota Camry. There they found 16 big bags stuffed full of processed dagga ready to be sold. In total, it was about 600 kilograms of marijuana worth around R800,000 on the streets.
The arrested man, named Mpumelelo Nkosi, is 33 years old. He now sits locked in jail waiting for his next court appearance on December 11th. He faces very serious drug crimes.
Top SAPS Commander Lt. General Semakaleng thanked the worried person who reported seeing the suspicious car. “Calling in tips helps police catch criminals trading or selling illegal dagga,” she said. Police need partnership from all citizens to fight crimes.
