March 4, 2025Newly appointed Director General in the Office of the Premier, Ms. Maggie Skhosana, officially assumed her duties on Monday. Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu welcomed her, expressing confidence in her ability to drive government efficiency and accountability.
Ms. Skhosana brings extensive experience as a government administrator, having previously served as Municipal Manager at Nkangala District Municipality in Middelburg. During her tenure, she played a key role in securing clean audit outcomes, a significant indicator of public trust and sound financial management.
Commitment to Clean Governance
Premier Ndlovu praised Skhosana’s track record, emphasizing her ability to enhance financial accountability and governance across Mpumalanga.
“Ms. Skhosana’s achievements are well documented. She has set a record of achieving clean audits at the district level. This experience will be instrumental in increasing the number of departments and municipalities with similar successes in the province,” he said.
The Premier also applauded Deputy Director General for Institutional Development, Mr. Peter Nyoni, for his leadership as Acting Director General during the transition period.
“Your leadership brought much-needed stability in a complex space and helped guide the Provincial Government towards strong performance,” Ndlovu noted.
Skhosana’s Vision for Mpumalanga
Ms. Skhosana outlined her key priorities, which include:
- Driving inclusive economic growth and job creation
- Addressing the high cost of living and poverty
- Building a capable, ethical, and developmental state
She emphasized that her approach will be action-oriented, stating, “Doing more and talking less will be the anchor of my commitment.”
Her appointment marks a new chapter for Mpumalanga’s governance and service delivery, with a strong focus on accountability, efficiency, and sustainable development.
