Mpumalanga Marks World AIDS Day in Nkomazi
December 5, 2025The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison has intensified law-enforcement operations as festive-season traffic increases across the province. On Thursday, 4 December, MEC Thulasizwe Thomo joined the Department’s Transport Inspectorate Unit during a high-visibility operation along the N4 in Mbombela.

The campaign aims to ensure that all motorists, holidaymakers and public-transport passengers travel in roadworthy and safe vehicles during one of the busiest periods of the year. Officers inspected vehicles, monitored traffic flow and engaged with drivers on compliance and safer-driving practices.
MEC Thomo emphasised that the province will maintain strong visibility on major routes throughout December. He noted that the safety of road users remains the Department’s priority, particularly as traffic volumes rise and long-distance travel becomes more frequent.
These operations form part of a broader festive-season safety strategy focusing on reducing crashes, enforcing compliance and promoting responsible behaviour on the roads. Community members are encouraged to cooperate with officers and to report unsafe or unroadworthy vehicles.
