Update on Nkomazi Incident: Three Suspects Arrested, Firearms Confiscated
October 14, 2024A 38-year-old suspect is set to appear in court soon after being arrested for unlawful dealing in dagga. The arrest took place on 10 October 2024, following a tip-off about a vehicle transporting dagga from Masibekela towards Kamaqhekeza. Around 16:00, police intercepted a silver Toyota Hilux matching the description at Mangweni Trust.

Despite police attempts to stop the vehicle, the driver ignored instructions, leading to a high-speed chase. The suspect eventually surrendered, and a search of the vehicle uncovered 20 bags containing approximately 200.7 kilograms of dagga, with an estimated street value of R500,000. It is believed that the consignment was intended for delivery in the North West Province.
The suspect was charged with dealing in dagga, and the vehicle used for transportation was confiscated for further investigation. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle belongs to the suspect’s father.
