Three Arrested for Passport Fraud in Mpumalanga
September 20, 2024Drivers are being urged to exercise extreme caution when traveling along the Graskop to Hazyview road, particularly near the abandoned buildings along the route. Reports have surfaced about two boys who are living in these structures and targeting people who stop for breaks or to relieve themselves, robbing them at gunpoint.

On 18 September 2024, two men were robbed near Chief Mogane’s old stand, where there are abandoned buildings. The robbers took their phones, bank cards, and even their clothes. They also forced one of the victims to remove his car’s battery after learning it had a tracker.
One of the victims, Hemilton, shared his ordeal: “They pointed a gun at us and told us not to look at them. They took everything, including our clothes, and made me disconnect the car battery. They then ordered us to run into the bushes, threatening to shoot us if we looked back.”

Local police have confirmed similar incidents, including two trucks being robbed at the same location two weeks prior. Drivers are advised to avoid stopping along this road, especially near the abandoned buildings, and to report any suspicious activity to authorities immediately.

Stay alert and be mindful when traveling in the area to ensure your safety.
