October 15, 2024Here are some key events taking place across South Africa over the next few days:
13–17 October
- Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina will participate in the 9th Africa Water Week and 7th Cairo Water Week. The event focuses on water challenges and solutions for the continent.
13–14 October
- The North West Provincial Government, led by Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi, will hold a two-day EXCO Planning Lekgotla to outline priorities for the next five years.
14 October
- Minister of Energy and Electricity Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa will brief the media on the implementation of the Energy Action Plan.
- The Public Service Commission (PSC) will present its Quarterly Bulletin, “The Pulse of the Public Service,” covering the period from 1 April to 30 June 2024.
- Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube, Deputy Minister Dr Reginah Mhaule, and North West Education MEC Viola Motsumi will host a media briefing following a Listening and Learning visit to the North West.
- PRASA will host a career day, introducing around 70 learners from Mamelodi, Soshanguve, Soweto, Tembisa, and Kempton Park to career opportunities within the rail industry.
- The Department of Employment and Labour will hold a career and jobs fair in the North West province, concluding on 16 October.
- The department will also host an Occupational Health and Safety conference focused on the construction industry, ending on 15 October.
15 October
- Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment Minister Dr Dion George and Deputy Ministers Bernice Swarts and Narend Singh will brief the media on their 100 days in office in Cape Town.
- The Western Cape provincial government will conduct free vehicle inspections for scholar transport operators at the Gene Louw Traffic College and Malmesbury Testing Centre.
16 October
- The Department of Employment and Labour will launch the Occupational Health and Safety Prevention Accord and unveil a new OHS strategy.
- Eastern Cape Rural Development and Agrarian Reform MEC Nonceba Kontsiwe will launch a R80 million cropping programme in Ngxakaxha village, Dutywa, on World Food Day.
