Six Computers Stolen from Police HQ”
January 30, 2025Two suspects, aged 23 and 30, were arrested on January 26, after being found in possession of dagga worth approximately R1.2 million on the R538 near Kruger Mpumalanga International (KMI) Airport.

Both men were charged with dealing in dagga and are expected to appear soon in the White River Magistrate’s Court.
Routine Patrol Leads to Major Drug Bust
According to Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the arrests were made during a routine patrol by the White River Flying Squad.
“Officers spotted a white Toyota Quantum with two occupants and decided to stop the vehicle. Upon conducting a search, they discovered 50 compressed bags of dagga, weighing approximately 1,020kg,” said Ndubane.
The officers immediately arrested the suspects and seized the drugs, which have an estimated street value of R1.2 million. The dagga was reportedly being transported for illegal distribution when it was intercepted by law enforcement.

Suspect from eSwatini Faces Additional Charges
Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects is a citizen of the Kingdom of eSwatini. Authorities found that he did not have the necessary documentation to be in South Africa legally. As a result, he faces an additional charge for contravening the Immigration Act.
Law enforcement officials believe that the dagga trade remains a major illegal business in the region, often involving cross-border smuggling operations. This arrest is seen as a significant success in ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and illegal trade in narcotics.
Police Commend Officers for Swift Action
The police have praised the White River Flying Squad for their vigilance and quick response in apprehending the suspects. They emphasized the importance of continued patrols and intelligence-led operations to prevent drug-related crimes in Mpumalanga.
“This arrest sends a strong message that we will not tolerate drug trafficking in our communities. Our officers remain committed to ensuring that those involved in these illegal activities are brought to justice,” said a senior officer from the Mpumalanga SAPS.
More Arrests Expected as Investigations Continue
Police have launched further investigations to determine whether the arrested suspects are part of a larger drug syndicate operating in the area. Authorities suspect that more individuals may be involved in this smuggling network, and additional arrests could follow soon.
The Mpumalanga SAPS has urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking. Community members are encouraged to assist in fighting crime by providing information that could help law enforcement dismantle drug syndicates.
Meanwhile, the two suspects remain in custody and are set to appear in court soon. Their bail status will be determined during their upcoming hearing. If convicted, they could face lengthy prison sentences for their involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Law enforcement agencies have reassured residents that they will continue to intensify operations against drug-related crimes to protect communities and ensure that criminals are held accountable.
