Twelve Arrested in Witbank for Immigration Violations
April 10, 202508 April 2025 A 23 year-old man was arrested on 07 April 2025, for dealing in dagga during a targeted operation carried out by members of the Proactive and Combat team under Operation Vala Umgodi in Mpumalanga.
The arrest took place in Mountain View at Shabalala Trust, near Hazyview, following intelligence received about illegal drug activity in the area. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, law enforcement officers descended on the suspect’s residence and conducted a thorough search.
During the search, officers discovered a plastic bag filled with dagga, weighing approximately 0.758 grams and with an estimated street value of around R1,500. The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with dealing in dagga.
The operation forms part of a broader initiative, Operation Vala Umgodi, which aims to curb illegal activities including drug dealing, illegal mining, and other crimes that impact the safety and stability of communities in the province.
The suspect is expected to make his first appearance at the Hazyview Magistrate’s Court soon, where he will face charges related to the possession and dealing of dagga.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug-related crimes and have urged community members to report suspicious activities to help build safer neighbourhoods.
