Additional Accused Appears in Fraud Case
November 20, 2025The community of Ngodwana has been shaken by a horrific incident in which a 42-year-old man was arrested for kidnapping, rape and house robbery at Bhamjee Squatter Camp. The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, 17 November 2025.
According to police, the 30-year-old victim was sleeping alone in her rented room when she heard a noise at around 01:00. Upon waking, she found a man known to her already inside the room. Despite her cries for help, no one heard her. The intruder allegedly ordered her to keep quiet and began strangling her. Though she tried to fight back, she was overpowered and lost consciousness.
When she later regained consciousness, the suspect was still inside the room. After another attempt to scream, he reportedly strangled her again. In desperation, the victim grabbed a knife from the stove and stabbed him in the shoulder. However, he overpowered her once more, assaulted her, and she fell to the floor.
Police say the assailant then demanded money, took her bank card and mobile phone, and covered her face with a cloth before raping her. He allegedly forced her to his residence afterwards, locked her inside, and denied her food.
The following day, 18 November, a community meeting was held after the victim’s family raised concerns about her disappearance. Shockingly, the suspect also attended this meeting.
The victim later managed to escape through a window. She was spotted by her sister, who had been searching for her. The suspect was immediately identified, and the police were called to the scene. He was arrested and taken into custody at Ngodwana SAPS.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 20 November 2025, on charges of kidnapping, rape and house robbery.
