February 15, 2024“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.”; This inspirational quote guided a charitable group’s decision to donate a shipping container library to Rindzani Secondary School in Mariti this Valentine’s Day.
The Purple Team of the Hollywood Foundation’s Mpumalanga chapter said the gift was their way of nurturing the next generation of leaders and pioneers. “Our CSI team recognized the challenges faced by this school and its students. We decided to help them achieve their dreams by providing a library and resource centre,” a spokesperson explained.
Many Rindzani students struggled academically without access to books and other learning materials. The lack of resources also limited their ability to gain skills for higher education and future careers. But the colourful new container library is stocked with books, computers, and tools aimed at empowering youth. Students call it their “dream room.”
“We finally have a place to study, research topics we’re passionate about, and do homework. This will help us become whatever we want in life,” said Lerato Mobu, 16.
The charity team hopes the library will nurture a love of reading and unlock opportunities for students facing disadvantages. They plan to continue aiding impactful youth programs. “When you provide young people with knowledge and support their potential, the whole community reaps the benefits,” the spokesperson said.
The group called the donation a special way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
