Thirteen Suspects Face Court for Murder

Police in Delmas have launched a manhunt following the brutal murder of seven-year-old Thandolwethu Mahlangu, whose body was discovered this morning in Delpark Extension 2.
According to police reports, Thandolwethu’s mother, Ms Ayanda Ngwenyama, reported her daughter missing on 11 November 2025, after the child failed to return home the previous evening. It is alleged that Thandolwethu had gone to her father’s house on 10 November around 18:00 and never came back.
A frantic search by community members throughout the night yielded no results. The following morning, Ms Ngwenyama reportedly received a disturbing text message from an unknown number demanding R30 000, allegedly owed by the child’s father, in exchange for the child’s safety.
Police immediately opened a missing person inquiry and began tracing the number, which was linked to the Botleng area. Several loan sharks were questioned, and multiple addresses were visited, but no arrests were made.
Tragically, at about 07:30 on 12 November, a neighbour discovered the young girl’s body under a pile of rubble behind a shack in Delpark Extension 2. Authorities were called to the scene, and a murder case has since been opened.
The suspects remain at large, and police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation. Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, condemned the killing, describing it as “a senseless act of cruelty.”
“People have lost their sense of humanity. How can anyone kill an innocent young girl who had her whole future ahead of her? We will not rest until the suspect or suspects are behind bars,” he said.
Police have activated a 72-hour plan to track down those responsible for the horrific crime.
