March 12, 2024Woman faces murder charge in fatal boyfriend stabbing
March 12, 2024In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage, the Limpopo police are investigating
the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl by two nine-year-old boys. The incident took
place in a village near Sibasa, Thohoyandou, on Saturday, according to police
spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba.
According to the victim’s mother, the young girl was playing with other children when
she returned home experiencing discomfort in her private areas. Upon confiding in her
mother, the child disclosed that she had been raped by two boys during play. Medical
tests conducted subsequently confirmed that the toddler had been sexually abused.
Provincial commissioner Lt-Gen Thembi Hadebe expressed appalment at the incident,
stating, “Youngsters are being sexualised more frequently and are abused by both adults
and other children. It is imperative for parents to give their children more attention and to constantly guard their future and the things they are exposed to.”
The case is currently under investigation by the specialized family violence, child
protection, and sexual offences unit. A probation officer and social worker have been
engaged to provide necessary support and intervention, given the delicate nature of the
case involving minors as both the victim and alleged perpetrators.
