June 4, 2025The Mpumalanga MEC for Health, Sasekani Manzini, officially welcomed the Transnet Phelophepa Healthcare Train at Ximhungwe Train Station in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality. Accompanied by Executive Mayor Cllr Lydia Moroane, local councillors, and senior health officials, Manzini emphasized the importance of utilizing the train’s services. Dr. Masinamela, representing the Phelophepa team, provided an overview of the comprehensive health services available on board.
The Phelophepa Train, which has previously visited Mkhondo, Belfast, and Komatipoort, is now stationed at Ximhungwe for the next two weeks. It offers a range of healthcare services, including eye care, cancer screenings, psychological support, dental clinics, and treatment for minor ailments. The train operates from Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:00, and does not operate on weekends.
MEC Manzini expressed her appreciation for the services provided by the Phelophepa Train and urged the Executive Mayor to mobilize the community to take full advantage of this opportunity. Residents are encouraged to bring their identification documents and any relevant medical records when visiting the train.

The Phelophepa Healthcare Train is a mobile clinic initiative that travels to rural areas of South Africa, providing essential healthcare services to communities with limited access to medical facilities. It is operated by the Transnet Foundation, with support from various partners, including Roche.
