Mpumalanga Treasury Celebrates Clean Audit Outcome

The Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury has been awarded a clean audit by the Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) for the 2024/25 financial year, marking an important achievement in governance and accountability.

During a presentation to MEC Bonakele Majuba and his team on Thursday, the Auditor-General confirmed that the department received an unqualified audit opinion with no findings on both its performance information and financial statements.

The audit also recognised the Treasury for meeting all 28 of its annual performance outputs, with seven exceeding targets set in the Annual Performance Plan. A highlight was the over-collection of provincial own revenue, which added R703 million — a 24% increase — to the fiscus for provincial priorities.

MEC Majuba praised the outcome, saying it reflected the department’s commitment to clean governance and transparency. “We are delighted with the outcomes of the audit process as presented by the AG today. We will continue to focus on strengthening accountability across all PFMA and MFMA institutions in the province,” he said.

The MEC further commended the Auditor-General’s role in strengthening democracy, ensuring that public funds are used responsibly and in line with constitutional obligations.
