September 10, 2024Mpumalanga’s Acting Police Commissioner, Major General Dr. Zeph Mkhwanazi, has commended detectives from the Hendrina and Breyton police stations for their successful efforts in tracking down a suspect. The suspect, who had previously been arrested for murder in February and was out on bail, is now set to appear in court again soon.
“The swift action taken by the detectives is a commendable example of teamwork and diligence in the pursuit of justice. It is through such collaborative efforts that the police can ensure the safety and security of communities and hold those who commit heinous acts accountable for their crimes,” stated Major General Mkhwanazi.
In a separate incident, a 33-year-old man, who had been on the run following a shootout with police in Kwaggafontein last week, has also been apprehended. During the shootout, police retaliated, fatally wounding one of the suspects while two others sustained gunshot wounds.
“Despite sustaining a gunshot wound during the incident, the suspect’s determination to evade justice was met with unwavering vigilance and dedication from law enforcement agencies,” said Provincial Police Spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli.
Major General Mkhwanazi highlighted the professionalism and commitment of the officers involved, emphasizing their crucial role in maintaining law and order. “This was proven by the tracing of this suspect, with the assistance of concerned citizens who submitted valuable information,” he added.
