Suspect to appear in court for alleged stolen firearm
March 22, 2024In a shocking display of brutality, a 30-year-old man was left for dead after being
kidnapped at gunpoint and having both his hands hacked off by six assailants in
eMalahleni, Mpumalanga. The incident occurred yesterday as the victim was walking on
Kromdraai Road towards Extension 16.
“The suspects left the man in the bushes to bleed to death, taking his hands with them,”
stated Captain Elizabeth Hlathi of the Vosman Police Station. The severely injured man
was later discovered by security officers on patrol and rushed to the hospital, where he
is currently recuperating.
According to Hlathi, the victim could not comprehend his captors’ language, only that
they intended to kill him. They drove him into the bushes, removed him from the vehicle,
tied rubber bands around his arms, and grotesquely severed his hands.
Police have condemned this barbaric act of violence, urging the community to be
vigilant against such unscrupulous individuals who may have committed this crime for
nefarious purposes like obtaining human body parts for rituals or as a form of mob
justice.
Lieutenant Colonel Muntu Mbatha has appealed to the public, stating, “Anyone with
information that could help identify these suspects is requested to contact me at 082
600 8537.” Authorities aim to apprehend the perpetrators swiftly before such heinous
crimes escalate further.
