September 29, 2025A Lydenburg woman accused of attempting to sell human tissue will remain in custody after failing to pay her bail.
Nomvula Rose Mnisi (39) was arrested on 17 September after she allegedly tried to sell human placentas. She appeared before the Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 25 September, for her formal bail application.
According to Lydenburg SAPS, the court granted her bail of R10 000. However, Mnisi failed to pay the amount and will remain behind bars until her next appearance on 3 October.
The Mpumalanga Department of Health has since confirmed that Mnisi, who worked as a cleaner at a local hospital, has been suspended. Officials indicated that she has not yet received her suspension letter due to being in custody.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
