A case of murder was opened by Dirkiesdorp SAPS where a 21 year-old suspect was traced and arrested on Tuesday for murder.
This comes after the suspect allegedly stabbed a 19-year-old male victim on 26 February 2024 around 02:00 at a tavern in Dirkiesdorp.
Police and Emergency Medical Services responded to the matter. Upon arrival, the victim was found laying on the ground with stab wounds on his upper body. He was certified dead by Emergency Medical Services.
He is expected to appear in the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after he was accused of murder.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has strongly condemned the incident. The General commended members for quick investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect.
