November 6, 2024Ashwell Claremond Isaac (30), wanted for murder in the Western Cape, is scheduled to appear in the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court on November 5. He was previously remanded in custody after his October 28 appearance at the White River Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga.
Isaac was apprehended in eMbonisweni, KaBokweni, on October 27. Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Hawks, confirmed that Isaac had fled to Mpumalanga following a warrant for his arrest in connection with an August murder in Cape Town. Hawks’ operatives acted swiftly on intelligence to capture the fugitive.
“The accused is in transit and will appear in the Vredenburg court on November 5,” said Sekgotodi.
Major General Nico Gerber, head of the Mpumalanga Hawks, commended his team’s efforts, stating, “The Hawks in Mpumalanga are committed to tracing, arresting, and bringing all perpetrators to justice. We stand ready to assist citizens nationwide, regardless of province.”
Isaac’s arrest highlights the Hawks’ resolve in coordinating across provinces to uphold justice.
