SAPS headquarters deemed unsafe for staff
February 29, 2024Netball South Africa has appointed Jenny van Dyk as the new head coach of the national team. She takes over from fellow South African Norma Plummer, who recently stepped down after her second stint in charge of the SPAR Proteas
Van Dyk is no stranger to the national setup, having previously coached the under-21 side and served as a selector. She now steps up to lead the senior squad on a 4-year performance-based contract.
The netball federation will be hoping Van Dyk can help the SPAR Proteas return to past glories. Under Plummer, the team failed to medal at the last two World Championships. Van Dyk’s mandate is to identify and develop the best netball talent in South Africa.
With her extensive experience nurturing young players, Van Dyk seems well-suited to ushering in a new era for the Proteas. Expect a focus on youth and transition as she builds her squad ahead of the next World Cup in 2023.
