March 24, 2025Two law enforcers from the City of Mbombela and a former SANDF member have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a woman in Mjejane on March 21. According to Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, a Mpumalanga police spokesperson, the 45-year-old woman was approached by about nine individuals armed with pangas, rocks, and other objects who vandalized her house.
The woman identified two of the suspects as law enforcers from their work at the City of Mbombela. One of them allegedly pointed a firearm at her, threatened to kill her, and forced her into a bakkie. The second suspect reportedly seized the firearm from his colleague and shot the woman in her right hand. She was rushed to the hospital and is currently recovering.
An attempted murder case was opened with the Komatipoort SAPS, leading to the arrest of the three suspects. Police also confiscated two firearms from one of the suspects—one of which was a state firearm, while the other was licensed for private use.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court on March 24, facing charges of attempted murder and contravention of a Protection Order. However, police have indicated that more charges may be added as the investigation continues.
Six additional suspects remain at large, and authorities have urged anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or provide details via the My SAPS app.
