March 28, 2024Police in Mpumalanga have arrested three suspects linked to the horrific amputation of
a 30-year-old man’s hands last week. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General
Semakaleng Daphney Manamela commended the investigative team for their tireless
efforts in apprehending the suspects aged between 20 and 55 on Wednesday night in
Vosman.
The suspects, believed to be from the same family, face charges of attempted murder.
The arrests followed a collaborative investigation involving various police units,
including the Mpumalanga Tracking Team, Vosman Detectives, Tactical Response
Team, Crime Prevention Unit, Flying Squad, Criminal Record Centre, Investigative
Psychology Unit, and a private trucking company.
According to the statement, the victim’s severed hands were recovered on Monday after
an intensive search. The 30-year-old man remains hospitalized, recovering from the
brutal attack that occurred on March 20th.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court on April 2nd
to face the attempted murder charges. Lt. Gen. Manamela praised the team’s
dedication, stating, “Well done for the arrest of the three suspects after spending
sleepless nights. We are adamant that the remaining suspects will soon join in. We trust
that justice will be served for the victim.”
The Provincial Commissioner urged the public to remain calm and allow the justice
system to take its course in this disturbing case.
