Basic Education Minister Urges Private Sector to Deepen Engagement in Education
November 12, 2024Premier Mandla Ndlovu recently held a meeting with traditional leaders from the Bushbuckridge and Thaba Chweu local municipalities. Welcomed by the Executive Mayor of Bushbuckridge, the gathering was attended by notable figures including MEC for Health Sasekani Manzini and MEC Thulasizwe Thomo, the former provincial chairperson of the Youth League in Mpumalanga. MEC Thomo was particularly commended for his efforts in improving Mpumalanga’s roads.

Community patrollers were also present and acknowledged for their ongoing commitment to maintaining safety and reducing crime in the area. Chief Mokoena expressed gratitude on behalf of traditional leaders for the government’s support, noting initiatives like building new offices for chiefs and renovating existing ones across Mpumalanga. He emphasised the cooperative spirit between the government and traditional authorities.
Mam Norah Fakude’s presence was also highlighted and appreciated. Premier Ndlovu thanked all attendees and reiterated the government’s commitment to community needs, mentioning MEC Thomo’s ongoing dialogue with traditional leaders to address road infrastructure.



As part of a commitment made earlier, Premier Ndlovu presented 11 cows to the traditional leaders, with eight going to Bushbuckridge leaders and three to Thaba Chweu leaders. Mam Norah Fakude also donated an Isuzu van to the community patrollers, adding to the van previously provided by Premier Ndlovu, thereby strengthening resources for community safety efforts.
