The brand’s gold-coloured crest features the word ‘Montecito’, the celebrity-favoured enclave
in California where the couple has resided since 2020. The area near Santa Barbara is
famously known as the ‘American Riviera’.
While details about the venture remain scarce, a representative for the Duchess confirmed
her involvement to AFP. The brand’s social media presence and website suggest a kitchen
and lifestyle-themed direction, with a grainy promotional video showcasing Meghan
arranging flowers and baking.
A mailing list invites users to be the first to know about ‘products, availability, and updates’
from American Riviera Orchard, hinting at potential merchandise or offerings in the future.
This launch marks a new chapter for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped back
from their royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. Their official @sussexroyal
Instagram account has been inactive since then, while Meghan’s personal social media
accounts and former lifestyle blog were closed before her marriage to Prince Harry.
In recent years, the couple has explored various media ventures, including a Netflix
documentary series, Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’, and a short-lived Spotify podcast deal. While
some projects have been dropped, an executive from Netflix recently confirmed that multiple
projects, including a movie, remain in early development stages.
