EFF leader Julius Malema urged party youth and students to avoid violence in the name
of garnering votes, in a recent address at Durban University of Technology.
Speaking ahead of the EFF’s manifesto launch on Saturday in Durban, Malema
cautioned hundreds of supporters against bloodshed fueled by political motivations as
the country heads toward general elections.
“Do not get involved in violence in the name of votes. We must hate seeing the blood of
black people because if we do not want to see our own blood, let’s not see the blood of
others. We want peace and we want tolerance and we want successful elections where
EFF will emerge victorious here in KwaZulu-Natal as the government of the day.
Whatever happens, the ANC will not win KwaZulu-Natal,” Malema stated.
Malema stressed that even as the EFF aims to unseat the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal, it
must be through peaceful democratic means, not instigating conflict. Shedding the
blood of fellow South Africans undermines the values of unity, dignity and prosperity for
all citizens that underpin the EFF’s platform.
As tensions frequently flare around elections, Malema’s plea for nonviolence sends an
important message to EFF faithful. Respecting all political voices and resolving
differences through discussion, not brute force, elevates the democratic process.
With EFF support surging in urban areas, Malema looks to channel that energy into
constructive civic participation. Peaceful rallying and voter registration drives keep youth
engaged while preventing volatile confrontations.
Malema’s guidance will be key in ensuring EFF backers express themselves at the
ballot box rather than through violence.
