President Ramaphosa Welcomes New Visa Reforms
October 11, 2024Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has once again found itself facing disciplinary action from the Premier Soccer League (PSL), receiving a R150,000 fine for fan misbehaviour. The incident occurred on 28 September 2024, during a match against Mamelodi Sundowns, where supporters threw objects onto the pitch following a contentious decision.
PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs pleaded guilty to the charges of spectator misconduct. “They were fined R100,000, with R50,000 suspended on condition that they avoid similar offences until the end of the season,” Majavu stated.
The fans’ reaction came after referee Skhumbuzo Gasa ruled Edson Castillo’s goal offside during Chiefs’ 2-1 loss to Sundowns in the Betway Premiership. This incident adds to a growing list of disciplinary issues for Kaizer Chiefs, who faced similar charges three times last season, including fines after losses to TS Galaxy, SuperSport United, and AmaZulu.
Additionally, a previously suspended R100,000 fine from last season was reactivated due to the repeat offence, bringing the total fine to R150,000. Chiefs must also cover the costs of the PSL’s disciplinary hearing.
