November 4, 2024The Lowveld area is bracing for extremely hot conditions over the next two days, but relief is on the way as thunderstorms and cooler weather are anticipated later this week, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
Today, Mpumalanga will see a 30-60% chance of showers and thundershowers over the central, south, and southeastern parts, with an 80% chance along the southeastern coast. Snow is expected along the Eastern Cape escarpment, with warnings issued for severe thunderstorms and potential snow disruptions.

- Yellow Level 4 – Severe thunderstorms over southern and central KwaZulu-Natal, potentially causing infrastructure damage, travel disruptions, and service interruptions.
- Yellow Level 1 – Severe thunderstorms with strong winds in the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, risking localized property damage.
- Yellow Level 2 – Disruptive snow over the northern and central high-lying areas of the Eastern Cape on the evening of November 4, which could affect traffic and livestock.
