Govt to inspect shops amid health concerns
November 6, 2023Eckson Masotja Primary School in Mafihlaleng, Buffelshoek is another school to allegedly be attacked by evil spirits. It’s reported that on Thursday, 19 October, a learner started acting weird and eventually fell whilst at the school.
“After the student was brought home, her parents admitted that they were aware of her issue. They believed that because their child had fits, she might occasionally fall. The following day the number of affected learners is said to have risen to more than 30 learners at the school. It was then decided that school should be dismissed for the weekend following the incident,” a source said.
It is said that on Monday it became worse, with more learners acting weird and falling all over the school. That became a big concern that a meeting, which comprised parents, ward councillor, school leadership and all stakeholders, was convened.
“A suggestion was brought forward that since the learners be sent home, the meeting should include pastors who would pray for the school’s wellbeing. That didn’t sit well with some of the parents. The parents suggested that a prophecy be conducted to find out the root cause of the problem,” said one of the parents.
Some attendees didn’t seem to think that was appropriate either.
Given that some of the parents seemed and sounded like they were prepared for battle, it was believed that this would result in baseless accusations and violence.
The final decision was that the school would be closed until further meetings were held between all stakeholders, including circuit representation. Solutions would be sought as the learners are to soon sit for their year-end examinations.
Some sections of the parents are said to accuse some of the teachers of being involved in Satanist practices and witchcraft at the school. Some teachers are said to have exchanged scary words which are likely to lead to serious accusations.
“Some of the accused teachers are said to have made the children join those secret societies. It’s further alleged that there’s a video recording going around where some of the teachers are fighting amongst themselves, thereby revealing their dirty games against each other and indicating how they don’t trust each other,” said the mole.
It’s also reported that on Wednesday, exactly 7 days after the first incident at the school, a learner died. That has fueled the allegations directed at the accused teachers.
This is not the first time that schools in the area have been marred by such allegations. Both Tladishi and Thepanang High Schools were once in the news for all the bad reasons where learners did the same.
According to the statement issued by the Principal, the school will resume lessons on Thursday 2 October
