“EFF defiant despite SONA ban”

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) will not be silenced despite Parliament’s suspension of six
party members, including leader Julius Malema, from this year’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
While Malema and others were banned for disrupting last year’s SONA, he remains adamant that
EFF MPs will attend the event and hold President Cyril Ramaphosa accountable.

The party’s application to overturn the suspensions was denied by the Western Cape High Court.
However, Malema maintains that his party’s presence will be felt during SONA regardless. He
accuses Ramaphosa of being “scared” of the EFF’s persistent calls for land reform.

Addressing supporters, Malema highlighted that the EFF has challenged previous presidents like
Jacob Zuma but was never barred from Parliament. He views the current ban as an attempt to
suppress the “voice of the voiceless.” Despite the setback, the defiant Malema vows the fight for
land will continue when SONA takes place on Thursday.
