In a tightly contested match at the Liver Stadium, Liver Brothers FC secured a hard–
fought 1-0 victory over MP Highlanders. The game seemed destined for a stalemate
until the stroke of halftime when Msindisi “Salah” Khosa coolly converted a penalty kick
to give the hosts the lead.
The first half was a cagey affair, with both teams cancelling each other out in midfield
battles. However, Liver Brothers were awarded a controversial spot kick just before the
break when MP Highlanders’ captain was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the
area.
The second period saw MP Highlanders exert sustained pressure in search of an
equalizer, but Liver Brothers’ resolute defence held firm. The home side even had
chances to extend their lead on the counterattack but couldn’t convert. When the final
whistle blew, euphoric Liver Brothers players celebrated a morale-boosting win that
keeps their hopes of silverware alive this season.
