October 20, 2023Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, Minister in the Presidency, referred to the attack on Gaza’s al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital as a war crime.
On Thursday, Ntshavheni spoke at a post-cabinet briefing.
Since the battle began on October 7 when the Gaza-based Hamas launched missiles into Israel, at least 1 400 people have perished.
Since then, Israel has surrounded the Palestinian territory with a barrage of airstrikes, a blockade, and the deployment of tens of thousands of troops to the border in anticipation of an impending ground invasion.
Ntshavheni called for an end to hostilities in the region, he further urged that the bombing of the hospital must be probed.
Ntshavheni said the “failure to act meaningfully by both the ICC and the United Nations will be a demonstration of the total collapse of a Rules-Based multilateral system”.
