Premier Ndlovu Reshuffles Cabinet, Fires MECs
Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu has reshuffled his provincial cabinet, resulting in the dismissal of two key Members of the Executive Council (MECs) and a senior departmental head.
nnnnEducation MEC Cathy Dlamini and Economic Development and Tourism MEC Makhosazane Masilela were both relieved of their duties. Also shown the door was Godfrey Ntombela, Head of the Department for Sports, Culture and Recreation.
nnnnSources close to the administration allege that Dlamini’s axing is tied to growing concerns over irregular tender processes within the Department of Education.
nnnnPremier Ndlovu made the announcement during a press briefing held in Mbombela on 15 July. He stood firm on his decision, stating that the reshuffle was driven by the need for accountability and improved service delivery.
nnnnThe premier appointed rising political leaders Lindi Masina as the new MEC for Education and Jesta Sidell to head Economic Development and Tourism.
nnnnThis bold reshuffle is expected to stir political tensions as Ndlovu consolidates power ahead of the 2026 elections.
