Police Stop Business Robbery

Swift action from the Provincial Anti-Hijacking Task Team stopped a business robbery in Kanyamazane on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, bringing relief to residents and business owners in the area.

Police were patrolling when they received information about a white Kia without registration plates circling shops suspiciously. Soon after, officers were alerted to an armed robbery in progress at T & Sons Supermarket.

The team rushed to the scene and confronted the suspects. According to police, the suspects allegedly opened fire, leading to a shootout. One suspect was fatally wounded, another was injured, while three others escaped in the getaway vehicle.

A firearm was recovered, and cases of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition have been opened. Emergency Services, Forensics and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate attended the scene.

Police have launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects. Community members are urged to report any information that may help in their arrest.
