Police Recover Hijacked Car
A hijacked vehicle has been successfully recovered by members of the Kwamhlanga Crime Intelligence Unit following swift action and coordinated police work on Monday, 17 November.
nnnnAccording to the police, a white Polo Classic with Mpumalanga registration was hijacked in the Suncity Albert Luthuli Section. The owner, an Ethiopian national, was reportedly held hostage by three armed suspects during the ordeal.
nnnnThe suspects, who were travelling in an old Toyota Corolla 16-valve, fled with the stolen Polo and several components, including the engine, two front tyres, gearbox, licence disc and starter.
nnnnPolice have confirmed that a case of carjacking is under investigation. Efforts to trace and arrest the suspects are ongoing.
nnnnThe Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, praised the Kwamhlanga Crime Intelligence Support Unit for their commendable work in recovering the vehicle.
