Mpumalanga Social Relief for Flood Victims
The Mpumalanga Department of Social Development (DSD) has launched a comprehensive response to assist communities affected by recent floods in various parts of the province.
nnnnActing MEC for Social Development, Sasekani Manzini, emphasized the government's commitment during the recent handover of relief aid to 130 households in the Mkhondo Local Municipality and surrounding areas. “We are dedicated to providing essential support to those impacted,” said Manzini.
nnnnA total of 451 households in Mpumalanga will receive social relief packages, provided by the DSD in partnership with the Vodacom Foundation. The assistance targets the Chief Albert Luthuli, Govan Mbeki, Lekwa, Pixley Ka Seme, and Msukaligwa local municipalities.
nnnnPriority has been given to the most vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with special needs. Distribution was conducted at strategically selected centers, supported by local authorities and trained volunteers to ensure efficiency and fairness.
nnnnManzini expressed gratitude to Vodacom for its support. She was joined at the event by Mkhondo’s executive mayor, Cllr Ngelosi Ndlovu, and Vodacom Mpumalanga’s executive manager, Monde Ngcukana.
