Man Arrested for Murder of 17-Year-Old Schoolgirl
A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old girl, whose body was discovered in a room in Extension 16, KaNyamazane, on March 14.
nnnnHe is expected to appear in the KaNyamazane District Court on March 17.
nnnnShocking Discovery
nnnnAccording to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, the victim’s family last saw her in the early hours of March 14 as she left home to catch a bus to school.
nnnnLater that evening, at approximately 17:30, police received a call from a concerned resident in Extension 16. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect, who led them to a room where the girl’s body was discovered.
nnnn“The suspect claimed that the room belonged to his brother and insisted he knew nothing about what had happened,” said Ndubane.
nnnnThe victim was still wearing her school uniform, and her body was covered with a duvet. A rope was found around her neck, with another piece hanging from the ceiling.
nnnnOngoing Investigation
nnnnAuthorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the girl's tragic death.
nnnn“However, based on the evidence gathered so far, police have reason to believe the suspect is directly implicated in this case,” Ndubane confirmed.
nnnnThe suspect has been arrested and charged with murder.
