Veina claims that her grandfather repeatedly raped for several years since she first moved to live with him and her grandfather after the death of her mother.
According to Veina, the rapes began when since she was 13 and have resulted in her falling pregnant at 17 and subsequently terminating the pregnancy.
She says both her grandparents took her to a doctor in Nelspruit for the termination.
Viena’s teachers and friends say that she tried to commit suicide several times, but she never confided her horror to anyone and suffered in silence.
The 22 year-old from Tsakane north of Hazyview said her grandfather used to come into her room and make her to play with his private parts until one night when he ordered her to take off her clothes.
She tried to resist but he was stronger than her; since that night he has been repeatedly raping her for years.
Viena says she has on several occasions sought help from her grandmother, who didn’t believe her but promised to talk to the grandfather.
She says her grandmother also pleaded with her not to tell anyone about their family shame.
Viena says she now believes that her nightmares have come to an end because the man who has been tormenting her died a car accident.
Veina is three months pregnant and says thought they tried to force her to abort the baby but she refused to do it because she wanted people to see what her grandfather was doing to her.
Veina’s friend Nancy said, “I noticed that something was wrong with my friend because she hated boys, even our male teachers, but I never thought that her grandfather was doing this to her, it’s a disgrace,”
According to Veina she pressed charges against her grandfather on Saturday 09 September but her grandfather he died before the police could arrest him.
Veina’s grandmother refused to comment and said we must leave her alone to bury her husband in peace before hanging up the phone.
